Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ADHD Evaluation comprised of?

It consists of an Adult ADHD Questionnaire, Clinical Interview, Beck Depression & Anxiety Inventories, and the QbCheck test, the gold standard of continuous performance tests and worldwide leader in ADHD assessment.

It does not include IQ tests or tests of achievement as they are not objective measures of ADHD symptoms. It does not test for Autism, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, or other learning disabilities.

What is the QbCheck ADHD test?

The QbCheck test for ADHD is by QbTech and is the only FDA-cleared device that specifically measures activity, impulsivity, and inattention. The QbCheck is the gold standard of continuous performance tests and worldwide leader in ADHD assessment. You can find out more here and here. It takes approximately 45 minutes to complete.

Once I have made payment online, what are the next steps?

Within 24 business hours of receiving your payment via the website, you will receive emails with intake paperwork and instructions on taking the QbCheck test, which can all be done at your convenience. You will also receive a link to our online scheduling system which allows you to schedule your appointment with Dr. Aaron Dodini to review your results and discuss your comprehensive treatment plan. This appointment usually can be scheduled within 1-2 weeks if not within days. We ask that you allow us at least several hours if not 24 business hours to review your results prior to your appointment.

After meeting with Dr. Dodini, you will receive a detailed report of the results, a superbill, and treatment recommendations will be provided.

What is covered by insurance?

We are "out of network" for all insurance companies, but you may very likely be eligible for reimbursement for some of the ADHD testing costs. The most efficient way to determine possible reimbursement from your insurance company is for you to call them directly. Tell them you were referred by your physician to an out of network psychologist for Neuropsychological Testing, CPT code 96132. Then ask them how much they will reimburse you for the testing and whether you must first pay a deductible. You should also ask them if there is a separate "out of network" deductible. After the completion of the meeting with Dr. Dodini, he will email you the diagnostic report and a "superbill" that has all the diagnostic and other information necessary for you to submit a claim to your insurance company to seek reimbursement.

If I am diagnosed with ADHD, can Calibrate ADHD or Dodini Behavioral Health prescribe me medication?

We do not have a medical provider on board at this time (but we’re working on it!) so we are unable to write any prescriptions for medication. We will work with your PCP or other medical provider to ensure you get the proper treatment recommended. If you are in need of a physician, we work with a network of exceptional primary care practices all over the county. We are happy to help you get connected with someone exceptionally good!

How long does the ADHD Evaluation process take?

From time of payment to time of appointment with Dr. Dodini, it can be as soon as several days to 1-2 weeks. This is significantly faster than the months-long wait times of many other providers because we use state-of-the art testing. The QbCheck test portion takes approximately 45 minutes to complete.

Will my school's disability support center accept this report as part of my accommodations request packet?

Let's talk about ADHD Campus, our specialized program for high school juniors through college graduation!

Ideally, you should have no issues using our comprehensive reports as proof of diagnosis in order to receive accommodations for academics/tests/etc. That being said, we are still working to educate and inform universities about the new standard of care and evaluation using objective data. Some schools still expect to see the old way--IQ tests, tests of achievement, etc. These tests provide a lot of information about IQ and learning disabilities. Unfortunately, they tell us nothing about ADHD specific symptoms of activity, impulsivity, and inattention. As a result, we don't include these tests in our ADHD evaluations. We are committed to being your partner in obtaining the accommodations you are legally entitled to.

Technology has changed so much in our lives. It has completely changed the way we diagnose ADHD. I am working hard to establish objective data as THE standard of care for ADHD. I'm honored to be part of the ADHD Expert Consortium which has announced a Community Call to Action to rethink ADHD diagnosis and treatment. Please join us by reading the Call to Action and signing our petition to lawmakers, educators, physicians, and other key stakeholders.

Is the ADHD Evaluation virtual or in-person?

All parts of the ADHD Evaluation are completed virtually from the QbCheck ADHD test and intake paperwork to the 30-minute appointment with Dr. Aaron Dodini to review results and discuss a comprehensive treatment plan.

Do you offer therapy to get treatment for my ADHD?

We work with Dodini Behavioral Health for therapeutic services. To schedule a general individual therapy session with one of the therapists at DBH, please go to https://dodini.com/about-us/ to contact a therapist.

Will my doctor accept this diagnosis?

They should! If they referred you to us, they definitely will. The neuropsych evaluation that we administer includes the only FDA-cleared device that specifically measures activity, impulsivity, and inattention and our protocol is the "Gold Standard" for valid and reliable ADHD diagnosis. If your physician has questions, we have answers and we are happy to talk with them and provide more information including clinical trials and scientific studies.
